“May the good we achieve, as one nation, be shared with the world.” – Who Are You My Country, by Lee Tzu Pheng
Hi, my name is Visakan, my friends call me Visa. I’m most active on Twitter at @visakanv.
I care deeply about Singapore. I was born here in 1990. My family lives here, I served NS here, I met my wife here, I bought a HDB flat here. I consider myself a proud, patriotic Singaporean. I would like to see Singapore continue to flourish as a nation in my lifetime, and hopefully for many more lifetimes after mine.
I believe that Singapore has the potential to be one of the greatest cities on Earth – not just economically, but culturally. I believe it’s possible for us to herald a true Golden Age, and it’s possible in our lifetimes.I want to help to make that happen.
The most popular post on this site is the Examples of Racism in Singapore post. But that’s not all this site is about. I try to take a historical perspective on things if possible.
Here are a list of recurring discussions about Singapore’s education system, and the problem with The Great Paper Chase, dating all the way back to 1974.
Here is a request for Parliament to be updated from first principles.
I am happy about your blog as it presents the racism well in Singapore. I had my first racism during school days and the biggest one at corporate level which prompt me to move out of Singapore.
In Singapore Airlines, my then employer, a Indian boss told me iam removed from a overseas course due unable to accommodate more than certain number of indians in the list. My indian superior was afraid to give the deserving opportunity in fear of favoritism. Its a different kinda of racism which I would like to add to your blog. It happened in 2008. Thank you.
