It&#8217;s a fairly simple and sticky idea, and it appears to have some lasting power \u2013 probably because it&#8217;s always relevant. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s also been mentioned in a <a href=\"https:\/\/pagely.com\/blog\/3-mental-models-to-use-right-now\/\">2017 blogpost by Tim Metz<\/a>, and in another <a href=\"https:\/\/themarketingstudent.com\/marketing-concepts-strategies\/\">2017 blogpost by David Fallarme<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have found myself referencing it in conversations on Twitter: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/visakanv\/status\/1058674083737391104\">X succeeded and did Y, therefore you have to do Y to succeed like X<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/visakanv\/status\/866834496624009216\">wealthy people invest in real estate therefore you should invest in real estate to get wealthy<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/visakanv\/status\/1099627189413146625\">big tech companies are dysfunctional therefore you should have a dysfunctional culture to become a big tech company<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In May 2013 I coined the term &#8220;Spray Tan Fallacy&#8221; in a blogpost on the ReferralCandy blog.
