some problems seem intractable. i don’t want to assert this too confidently because i might just be missing something. but nonetheless i think it’s helpful to articulate.
a good dating app
a good media organization
a good todo list app
a good communications system
in all of the above cases the incentives are almost impossible to align, ie they are intractable problems

(thread) its not just dating apps that are broken, it’s modernity’s concept of dating entirely. this won’t be solved with a new dating app
it’s not just productivity apps that are broken, it’s modernity’s concept of productivity entirely. this won’t be solved with a new note-taking / todo list app
its not just schools that are broken, its modernity’s concept of education entirely. this likely won’t be solved with your new education startup
[half-joking] its not just concepts that are broken, it’s modernity’s concept of concepts entirely. this likely won’t be solved by new concepts
it’s not just tradfi that’s broken, it’s modernity’s concept of fi entirely. this won’t be solved with defi
i didn’t set out to shill my books here, but actually, FAN + Introspect contain my proposed solutions to productivity, dating, education, finance, everything. It’s not very boldly stated, bc I’m still in the process of figuring out what I really think, but it’s in there if u look
I wouldn’t say “go read my books if you want answers to this” yet bc they still need some rework and updates before they really hit the spot
but if I had to present an answer it’s something like, “the solution is not any static object or form, but rather a dynamic spiral becoming thru knowledge (of self and the world), kinship (relating to self and others) and action”
