Indian art (blogpost draft)

I’m taking some time to go through indian art on Pinterest. Spent some time looking up Lord Shiva. Found myself thinking that there’s a lot of nuance to him that isn’t always immediately apparent. There are many versions of him, faces, avatars. He has this zen calm in his meditative state. He also has this beautiful-chaos dancing state.

Sometimes artists represent him as this sort of badass king or conqueror type, but I don’t think that captures him accurately. Or at least, I’m not a fan of that depiction. I think he’s meant to be wild. He’s a mountain man. He’s an ascetic.
