1– can you stop
2– mental image recall– the minds eye. Visualise the past before you act. Hindsight. Have you been here before? What have you learned? Foresight. Think ahead. visualise what will happen. Self-talk. Internalise speech. Talk to themselves. Over 10 years, made private, internal. Self-regulation, what to do next. No minds voice. Very weak.
3 – Emotional regulation – consistent with your goals and welfare. Emotions = motivation. No emotional regulation, motivations get scrambled.
4 – Self-motivation. You cannot work or persist in an environment without immediate, consequential feedback. Video game -> consequences, feedback. Homework – delayed consequences, no consequences. Work does not get done. Internal neurogenetic failure – can’t self-motivate.
5– Minds playground. Plan and problem solve. Simulate the future. What do other people think? What do other people want? Think of multiple ways to solve a problem.
