“My father is now bugging me to get a scholarship with the RSAF. It does not interest me at all. I have no interest in the military and I don’t want to spend 6 years doing something which i have no desire or passion for, at all.
He said that he respects how I’ve done in my music and my band, and he knows that I’m where I am because I am genuinely interested in what I’m doing, and that if I were interested in my studies, I would be somewhere, blah blah.
Well I’m not interested in putting in effort into things that I’m not interested in- is it that hard to accept?
There are several things that interest me:
- I want to be involved in education. I definitely want to teach. I want to make a difference to people’s lives.
- I want to write, be it articles, books, whatever. I want to write informative, social commentary that will make a positive impact on society. I haven’t decided yet, but I believe that there will be people who are interested in what I have to say.
- I want to write good songs and play good shows; to make a difference to listeners and fans.
- I want to revive Singapore’s music scene and I want to help good bands and songwriters out.
- I want to own and invest in several businesses- I am presently trying to startup an events organization venture.
- I am interested in economics, finances, et cetera- but I have no interest in jumping into that river. I will constantly educate and update myself about such things, but I don’t want to make a living out of it.
- I want to be involved with the media somehow- I am interested in being involved with a print production, say a magazine.
I want to be doing things which I want to be doing- I don’t want to wake up one morning when i’m 40 or 50 and regret what I’ve done. I believe that money isn’t everything, but I believe that sound financial intelligence will allow you to live comfortably without debt, whatever your line of work.
