that time you in NS.
coz you say after you ORD you lost
how you find yourself ah
go back to the basics and make sure to keep reaching out.
the best advice i can give anybody is to have a body of work
that’s the most “objective” way to be
to divorce your professional self worth from your personal self worth
not say professional means must wear shirt and tie
you know what i suggest for you
make a list of all the recommendations you’d make to anybody like yourself, or a younger version of yourself
make one recommendation a day
write in a notebook or better still, a blog
you achieve like 3 things at once
1- you kinda re-trawl your own brain
look for all the shining bits
what inspired you
10 favourite movies and why
10 favourite foods and why
10 favourite books and why
that sort of thing
figure out what matters to you
10 bad decisions you made
10 good decisions you made
what you end up with is a meaningful summary of your own life
day-to-day it can feel a bit bla or sian
but when you distill the best moments
it’s the equivalent of taking a few cooler-than-usual ppl (versions of yourself) and putting them in one room
there will be some triggers and connections that you can’t anticipate
if you do this on a blog, you’ll have people approach you from behind and in front
you connect yourself to a larger ecosystem
that’s the longwinded answer to how to find yourself
you look inside for awhile, then you look in front and behind
so imagine that on a wall, like 10-20 pieces of paper
10 favourite moments, 10 worst, 10 favourite places, when were you at your best, bla bla
you get the idea. once you lay out the data in a way that is meaningful to you, something will become apparent to you
“the answers you seek… lie within”
what they never say is it helps to take a systematic approach to it
alternatively, go on a grand adventure (which is kind of the same thing- it forces you to eliminate the non-essential, and leaves you with the meaningful data in the end)
they say success is
knowing how to use what you got to get from where you are to where you wanna go
where you wanna go can be as simple as “that way *point*”
don’t need to be specific
so you need to find out what you got. a clear small inventory is better than a huge muddled one
