Here’s an idea that I have that I’d like to pursue: T-shirts as conversation starters. I’m tentatively calling this Project Statement.
I’ve always been somewhat dissatisfied with the t-shirts I own- I never quite feel like they say as much as I’d like them to. So I figured that I might not be the only one who feels this way, that it might be a business opportunity, even.
Here are some rough ideas:
You can check out the rest of them here.
My target audience would be people like myself, obviously. People who like words, some degree of intellectual humour. I’ve also got t-shirt ideas specifically targeted at expressing Singaporean identity. I figure that the bulk of my target audience would be found in university students, and people going overseas to study who want to carry a bit of Singapore with them.
Designs I’m going to have to pick up illustrator or something. I have a partner to work with who knows this stuff better than I do! So I’ll just do rough sketches and let him handle the polishing up.
Finances shouldn’t be a big deal, I’m planning to start at a relatively small scale. It’ll be like a hobby first. More on this once I get it off the ground.
Promotion Strategy Initially I think I’ll be selling through word of mouth and online, and maybe at like flea markets and stuff. I want it to be more than a matter of t-shirts. But I won’t get ahead of myself here, this one you don’t need to know yet.
