Disclaimer: If you have a weak immune system, a selective sense of humour or both, be warned that the following is written in jest and may deeply offend you. Please take care of your health and stay away from Mexico.
H1N1 has affected about 60,000 people, and slightly less than 300 of them have supposedly died so far. About 250 of these are from USA and Mexico, 20 from Canada, some from Argentina, and Chile. UK had over 3,000 cases, but only one death. Columbia has 71 cases, but two deaths.
In contrast, REGULAR FLU affects over 1,000,000,000 people a year, and kills 500,000 to 1,000,000 of them.
YOU ARE MORE LIKELY TO DIE OF REGULAR FLU THAN SWINE FLU OKAY?! The people who’ve died so far are mostly weak, frail and either in situations with terrible sanitation, healthcare, or both. If not for H1N1, these same people probably would have died from diarrhoea or gonorrhoea or who-gives-a-flying-fuck?! (To be more accurate- these also include people with respiratory ailments. In which case they might die from a frisky charcoal barbecue or a rabid skunk infestation)
FUCK! You people drive me crazy. People are getting shot on the streets in Iran for protesting a rigged election!
And for all the people taking major examinations this year; school closure, god forbid it happens, is not a good idea. Seriously. They’re not going to push the final exams back by the length of the closure, so we’re just going to have to cram more make-up lessons, lectures, you name it.
So stop spamming me with your goddamn SMSes to go and “vote for school closure” on CNA!
Someone: “Go vote leh! Wait close school again sia like SARS!”
Me: “And what’s the point of that, seriously?”
Someone: “Extended holiday ba!”
Me: “and when school starts we’ll just have more lessons to make up for it, don’t you realise?”
Someone: “Oh yah you’re right. Fuck! But got more time to go clubbing and hang out with friends and shit what!”
Which I imagine is the whole purpose of school closure, huh? More widespread social interaction! SPREAD THE JOY, MOTHERFUCKERS. I SNEEZE IN YOUR GENERAL DIRECTION.
If only there were a Logic Flu that would ask you a series of logical questions and kill you if you failed it. That would be beautiful. (I don’t wish to imply that I take pleasure from watching people dying. But you have to admit that such a flu would be a remarkable development probably beyond the means of evolution, and thus prove the existence of a very badass creator that we all sorely need.)
(Y) good one visa
HAHAHA.
‘Gloria likes this.’ (Y)
and the weak and frail include people who have chronic diseases like asthma (because h1n1 has been known to do funny things to your respiratory system) and diabetes, people with respiratory problems (such as those you get from smoking) and pregnant women. oh yes these people are so gonna die from diarrhea.
the thing about h1n1 is that it causes worse complications in people with underlying health problems / weaker immune system as compared to the regular flu. it might not be as fatal as the regular flu for normal people, but it is for people who do not have that strong an immunity. which makes your post deeply offending since i am concerned about it as i do have an underlying chronic health disease resulting in a weak immune system.
Hi Toe π
With all due respect, you have to understand then that the entry is meant as a general response to the generally-unjustified phenomenon.
I personally don’t see why you have to be deeply offended that somebody on the internet making a silly gesture didn’t go out of his way to make a special mention for you in the middle of a post that took half a minute to write. If you HONESTLY feel that I am trying to single you out and insult you for your personal (and justified, given that you have a weak immune system) concern about your own health, then you have my apologies. It is an honest oversight.
That said, I can assure you that I honestly do not wish h1n1 or physical harm on innocent people for no reason.I do, however, have a very low tolerance for people who make uninformed decisions and send mass messages like “Vote for school closure so we can go clubbing!”
Relax, and don’t get so easily offended or worked up. It’s bad for your health. (And just in case, no, I didn’t mean that in a sarcastic, negative or condescending way. Lighten up! π
no don’t get me wrong. i whole-heartedly agree with the second half of your entry. but the first half seems to belittle what people feel is important. it’s similar to belittling how you feel about Iran. MILLIONS OF PEOPLE IN CHINA DIED / GOT SHOT FOR RAISING THEIR OWN FEELINGS AT HOME. HOW MANY DIED IN IRAN? something along that line. your entry is just insensitive – and i do have a very good sense of humour. i see no humour or jest in the entry. you might want to work on what you claim to be humour?
psst btw smokers are known to be more susceptible to respiratory complications from contracting flu π
Of course it “seems to belittle what people feel is important”- I AM belittling what people feel is important! It might be important to you for a valid reason, but I believe that it is far less important to the average layman than what it has become. It’s okay if you want to disagree. You can try to belittle whatever I feel is important and it’s not going to change how I feel about it. People will always disagree with you. Live with it.
It is also completely okay if you don’t see the humour. You might want to give up whatever you’re trying to achieve here and move on. I am not going to go out of my way to try to please you. Everybody else here is fine with it. If you think we’re all being collectively insensitive, boo-hoo. π
Hahaha hi visa! π ya indeed. from a nurse to be’s persepective (hahah) yea.
The regular flu that kills bout 1 mil of ppl? those ppl are ppl who are already immuno compromised, eg. having aids. that sort.
and thing bout the kinda virus like h1n1 is that they spread must easier than the regular ones, and ya, they don’t kill now. j
ust not yet.
but when they achieve their widespread effect, they’ll mutate and create a new strain, which would cause an epic wipe out of the entire population.
they’re not worrying bout ppl dying, cos we’ve got the cure. they just worrying how fast it can spread, and if it mutates. that’s gonna be just how fast its gonna kill the world. yup.
anyway, i second your opinion on the sch closure thing. i’m a year 3. and they closed nyp for another week. this is my last 10 weeks in sch. and they made it 9. bloody shit. tests and all are gonna be packed like crazy :/ yea k rant rant. haha. aites. exciting. we should all elope to iceland. woohoooo stupid swine.
HAHAHA!
i especially like “I sneeze in your general direction.”
This entry is win.
