Playing in a band brings you places! I’m a JC student, but I’ve ended up in Temasek Poly, Singapore Poly and Ngee Ann Poly because of my music. Haha.

Well so far Temasek is still my favourite, cause it’s in the east and I run into people I know everywhere and the atmosphere is just more bubbly.

A week back or so we played at TP, and we played terribly. The heat got to us, we were all feeling unwell, and it was a general mess up and we were all quite demoralised about it (particularly because the previous two gigs, Deafcon 6 and VS’s Evening of Music and Drama, were particularly amazing for us).

Well we played at NP yesterday and we’re feeling alot better. We were playing with both the bass and guitar directly into the PA without any amplifiers and the bass drum had no skin in front.

Well it’s Armchair Critic’s policy never to complain about or criticize equipment provided, because we’ve organized gigs before and we know it’s not easy. In the end, even though we haven’t been able to jam for ages and had almost no crowd to play to, we had lots of fun, and we get that nice warm feeling again. (Not as nice as playing to a great crowd with great sound, but still nice!)

Anyway the highlight of the day was catching Valentine’s Letter. Brilliant, brilliant band. Do add them up and tell them I sent you there! They’re going to become something big. Very charismatic, very lovable, tight, great music. They sound like thrashy emo punk rock, done well and refreshingly. Going to catch them at the Full Flight on 30th Nov.

Made friends with them! Also had fun meeting Jeannette, Naomi, Sherwin, Sarah C. and others.

After that I went for a jam with the Black Stallions. I tell you, it’s going to be very interesting. Will keep you in the dark about that for a while.

Supper with Shyam, Kabeer and Boon! Mee Goreng, Milo Peng and a long hearty chat. Good times.
