Yesterday was pretty fun haha. I woke up at like 11am and realised that we had an audition to go to at Wake Me Up Music and I didn’t know where the heck it was, so I quickly rushed to get the map and directions and everything. Then I spent like half an hour looking for my wallet and ended up meeting Ahmad and Boon later. Ahmad went up to Boon’s place cause I was late and they had to run after the bus I was on to get it.
Boon looks cute in shorts and Ahmad looks good in shirts. I look pretty much silly whatever I do, so haha. We got to Queenstown MRT and it was raining bad, so we ended up cabbing a very short distance. The first cabbie was a bastard who refused to take us and the second cabbie was a nice guy who listened to us complain about the first one and told us not to let him spoil our day.
Nice guy. So we got to Wakemeup Music, where we met other bands like Inked Out, The Sexies and Bad Obsession. The place is really small! There are some nice guitars and basses hanging (I saw a really nice Fender Jazz and a fretless Precision- yummy). The jam room is tiny and the tom was broken off the stand. Nevertheless we played, took some silly photos, took more silly photos on our own, and went to have lunch at a nearby hawker center (where we ran into Bad Obsession again, nice guys).
Ahmad and Boon started coughing pretty badly around this time when we were walking towards the MRT station, Ahmad having a lung infection which he got from his cousin, and Boon probably having gotten it from him from sharing soup and drinks and ciggies. So i’m walking down the road watching my bandmates heave and cough and double over and I wonder if Armchair Critic is going to lose it’s members to lung cancer. Oh well. Hahaha. I wonder what i’d do then.
So then Boon and Ahmad contemplated being mean to me because I always take train seats when they’re available, which made me sad. =( But after that enough people left for all of us to get seats, so it was good =). Lugging around equipment never seems to get less tiring. I need to work out again so that I can survive this.
Boon got off early to go to church while me and Ahmad headed to Levan/Lerping’s house for a CNY party of sorts. We went to Ahmad’s place first to leave our equipment there and then took a bus over.
Met Lerping, his parents, Joycelyn, Fiona, Mel, Derryn, Sean (who looks damn cheenah cute in his IC photo), Simon, Bang and a few other nice people haha. Initially we were just stoning around, but soon we were playing X-Box 360. Watching Lerping insult Americans online is PRICELESS. He’s like playing Need For Speed: Carbon, and saying things like “Who’s American in here? I can smell the stupidity!” “I hate your president! Fuck you stupid redneck idiots!” and “you just proved my point you dipshit, don’t you have any vocabulary?” “I’m from India, which is near China in the middle of Australia”.
Fucking priceless.
And we played some boxing game (I beat Ahmad hehe) and Gears of War which has FUCKING AWESOME GRAPHICS (but is pretty hard to aim with on analog). Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 was amusing, especially when Ahmad picked Rey Mysterio against The Undertaker. Ahahaha. And woman vs. woman matches were hilarious too (I think me against Fiona?).
At some point in time we went down to the void deck to talk and play guitar and piss off the mats in the area by singing really loudly haha. Lerping wrote a really good song, I’m looking forward to it. But it’s all acoustic and ballad and inspirational, which is slightly cheesy but really good anyway. There was this adorable little black kitten running around that I brought over. After I rubbed the back and under of its neck a little bit it took to us very well and went around rubbing itself against everybody’s leg and feel asleep on the guitar bag. The girls bought some food and milk which we shared with the kitten. Cute. I’m starting to kinda like cats.
After that some of us were watching My Name Is Earl. Hilarious shit. “I am god!” “Giveth thy gold and silver to the blonde woman with the nice rear. I’m a man, I notice things.” Hahaha.
Then there was the gambling. In-Between is a FUCKING scary game- everybody donates money into a pool, and then each person draws two cards. You win if the next card you draw is between the two cards. For example, if you draw a 4 and a 9, you can choose to bet any amount of money in the pool- and if you draw a 5, 6, 7 or 8, you get to take that money out of the pool. If you get a card that’s more or less, you have to put that much money in. If you hit the post, meaning draw a 4 or 9, you have to pay double that. You can choose to pass, for example if you get 4 and 7 and you don’t want to try your luck.
Simon drew an Ace and King, which is the best odds you can have, bet everything in the pool ($300?) and drew another king, so he lost crazy amounts of money. The same thing happened to another guy.
At some point in time Bang smashed his chair into a glass mirror and cracked it. Lerping’s dad said it was ok but his mum was visibly distraught haha.
Later on the game switched to blackjack. By this time it was past 11pm and there were no more bus 10s leaving tampines, so I decided to go for broke and try to earn a cab fare. I had 6 dollars in my wallet, and about half an hour later I left with $30, comfortably taking the cab and having $20+ left which will go into the Help-Visa-Bring-Home-His-Bass fund. Hehe.
It was a fun night. =)
I bet you had your ATM card!
i don’t have an ATM card >_>
SHARMILA
