In an interview with Jason Calacanis, Shopify CEO Tobias Lutke talked about the future of retail– and he said a line that really stuck with me. He said that it’s not about the product anymore, but about what the product represented.
Which made me think of Coca Cola. Sugared water. What can sugared water possibly represent? Freedom. Relaxation. Friendship. Shared moments.
I’d like to buy the world a Coke. Give it something sweet. Give it some cheer. Give it something to smile about.
I drank too much sugary drinks as a kid and I think it may have adversely affected my health in some way, affected my personality, who knows what else. I used to drink it every day, and get bad sugar crashes.
But I sure appreciate the marketing that went into Coke. Wish we could use that on something a little less… sugary.
